Hey Meg, what’s the word on road?

At thegoodnewsgirls we really love to see young positive people making their mark. Megan Sumpton is a prime example of someones hard work paying off- and that it IS possible to gain recognition and get your message across without putting others down.  We definitely need more blogs like this, to make celebrities feel human again, and showcase all the good that they are doing. WordOnRoad (*tumblr Wordonrd) is rapper Drake’s official fansite run by Megan Sumpton- a striving business woman and a genuinely inspiring person, who I had had the pleasure of interviewing. Whether you are a Drake fan or not, Megan’s undeniable drive and ever growing ambition can inspire us all. Along with her savvy business skills that took her from an average blog to running a full on site, she is a genuinely nice girl. Megan is proof that if you stick to something that you really care about at constantly work at it, you will get to where you wanted to go and even places you wouldn’t ever imagine going. Thank you Megan, we admire people like you. If you want to know more about Megan, her experience with drake, her thoughts and opinions, or even how to start doing a blog similar, take a look at the interview with Megan below, and enjoy!

Thank you so much! I am glad that you’re seeing what this is all really about. And I hope you enjoy the blog! - Ella

Thegoodnewsgirls are proud to present….. Mind Of A Taurus! The very interesting blog started off as a blog with astrology, beautiful photographs that brought good energy to your hearts, and encouraging things and soon led into a blog that circles around self improvement, and encouraging words that seem to come from a person who truly understands and cares. I came across this blog from a friend of mine who questioned if I was secretly running it. (She’s anonymous on the blog) I laughed at this. ‘Who is this suspscious girl that runs a blog that reminds my friend of me?’ I thought. So I checked it out. I’m already in love with astrology, so I was like a kid in a candy store. Well, a girl in an archive. But on top of it all this girl talked about change, and self improvement. She was like a spiritual guardian angel for people over the internet. And I fell in love. I had to learn more about her. And what did I learn? Absolutely nothing. This girl was serious about keeping her identity private; only making her blog even more irrisistable.

‘What ethnicity are you?’ Anonymous people will ask her. And she only graciously replies back with,

‘Does it matter? I’m human just like you <3’ and we’re all left to wonder.

Wonder who this girl might be that goes into detail about the compatibility between a Sagittarius and a Leo. Who writes post such as, ‘Dear Virgo,’ that read like a letter that was personally addressed to you and exactly what you’re going through. Who helps people sort through their feelings when they come to her with help for an issue. Who is always willing to talk to anyone who needs it without any judgement or annoyance. Who started a segment on her blog called, ‘28 days of gratitude’ where everyday there are new exercises to help you feel grateful for different things in your life. And be appreciative of the beauty around you. And so we all follow her, and listen to this beautiful person speak beautiful words to us through a text post. And it’s all just enough for us to love her. Never like a preacher shoving beliefs down our throats. And never depersonalized words that make us feel like she doesn’t really care. And luckily I got in touch with her and was able to ask her a few questions. But before we get started I want to give a warning: You may think she’s amazing already, but her answers will make you fall deeper in love with her mind. So now I leave you to it, enjoy!

Diced Pineapples
Rick Ross feat. Wale & Drake

It’s like heaven opened and angels started singing! Personally, I have been dying for Wale and Drake to bless us with a collaboration for forever, and featuring on Rick Ross’ upcoming album God Forgives I Don’t, set to release this Tuesday July 31st, was the perfect way to do so. Diced Pineapples was produced by Cardiak and T-Minus. The soulful slow-tempo track opens with Wale’s infamous spoken word poetry, with drake grazing the chorus with his sing song lyrics that would make any girls swoon. Rick Ross discussed coming up with the concept of the song, saying that eating more fruit was something suggested by his doctor after having a series of seizures last year. Thus came the title Diced Pineapples.

When I got out of the hospital — you know, I had a seizure last year — when I was leaving, the doctor told me, ‘You gotta eat some more fruit, drink you some water, eat fruit and just relax for a little while.’ My fruit of choice was pineapples. For the next three weeks, I woke up every morning and ate diced pineapples, and I put the concept together. Drizzy came in, as well as Wale, and it’s kinda like, ‘She could be my diced pineapple. This special lady, she could be what I wake up to every morning and help me get by every day. -Rick Ross

Take three of the most popular men in Hip Hop right now, add a sweet hook, great lyrics, an amazing beat and concept & you’ve got Diced Pineapples. Something that will definately be in heavy rotation for me for the rest of the summer and after that. Take a listen!

Just Sunday night, Ella and I anxiously gathered around the TV with blankets and snacks last night exactly at 8:00, to watch the long awaited finale of what was an extremely intense season of The Bachelorette. We watched as Emily Maynard, the bachelorette, struggled to filter out the jerks from the guys who she had absolutely no connection with from those who she could potentially have a future with. It’s a given that The Bachelorette had all of the drama and heartbreak that makes for good tv, there’s even a spinoff show Bachelor Pad, where they throw bachelor and bachelorette contestants into a house with The Bachelor and The Bachelorette superfans. But the drama of The Bachelorette led to a few confrontations- where Emily definatey put these guys in their place (You go girl!) One even called Emily’s six year old daughter, Ricki, “baggage”. It was quite clear with every rose that Emily gave out, or didn’t give out, she had her daughter in the front of her mind. We could tell, once it got down to the final four men, who was truly falling in love with this woman: ALL OF THEM. Each man, in his own time, poured their hearts out to Emily whether it was in little notes or letters, through gifts or kisses, we were constantly swooning at these men (One in paticular, thegoodnewsgirls were and still are team Jef!) It was not evident, though, who Emily was falling for until this final episode. With two completely opposite men competing for the love and possibly Emily’s hand in marriage, she had a very tough decision to make. Emily didn’t want to be “the girl who gets engaged fifteen times”, with no wedding, so the decision of who she would choose and if there would even BE a proposal at all weighed heavily on her as well as all of us viewers. She introduced both men to her parents, but only one man had the privilege to meet her daughter. After an amazing date with Jef Holm, one of the finalists, Emily brought him back to her house to meet and play with her daughter. It was clear by the way Jef interacted with Ricki that he would make an amazing dad- exactly what Emily wanted and so desperately needed in her life. That day, Emily knew what she had to do. Without even bothering to go on her other date with Aurie, the other finalist, she broke it off early and sent him home in an emotional and touching goodbye that was clearly painful for the both of them. This is somehting that I really applaud Emily for doing. Nobody wants to be strung on longer than needed, especially when their heart is on the line. Emily really proved to be a genuine and honest person throughout the show, and even though it wasn’t Aurie that she picked we could see that she really did care dearly for him. Later at the live After the Rose Ceremony Emily said that though she had fallen in love with Aurie and he did absolutely nothing wrong, it was clear that her feelings for Jef were much stronger. So strong that when he proposed…SHE SAID YES. Well, After a long, painful ten seconds on his knees, she said yes. Jef and Emily are still engaged today and are planning on moving in together in her town of Charlotte, North Carloina with a wedding on the way. I really think that they’re great for eachother, and hope that they make it work!

I love SantagatoTV!

If you haven’t already heard about him, then listen up. (Well, read up) Since I am a victim of watching people talk about their views on various subjects every once a week as though I was waiting for Sunday to roll around so I could listen to a preacher. I wait for Tuesdays to come around to watch a new video of SantagatoTV. And the man in charge of it all. Joe Santagato. He uploads videos circling around topics such as, Instagram, the evolution of the female, and even meeting the Santagato fam. If watching a genuinely funny, charmingly sensitive, sweet, attractive guy in his early twenties isn’t enough for you then add on the funny reenactments, and clips featuring his family members and you’ll be addicted. Joe comes off as the nice guy next door that you just have to make friends with. His innocent humor, and intro songs that change every week draw you in and make you click on the subscribe video and watch more. Maybe it’s because he acted out what it might have been like as the first woman ever to give birth in the video, “The Evolution of The Female.” That had me replaying, crying of laughter, and showing my friends and even my mother the hilarious clip. Or maybe it’s the frequent cameos of his brother Keith Santagato that are always tickling. Or maybe it’s just the vulnerable way he goes about showing the awkward moments in the video, The First Date. (Shown above) Whatever it is it’s working, and I love SantagatoTV.

We loved Ice Age!

Walking into a movie theater that was filled with children ranging from three to nine and their parents can be a little off-putting for your self esteem. You may stop, and question where your life is going. You’re in a movie theater with dozens of kids, and a cherry blast ICEE in your hand. However, when you decide to actually sit down and watch the movie… you forget that, excluding the parents, you’re the oldest one in the theater.  The movie from start to finish was constantly making me laugh out loud, and I even cried of laughter at one point. The cast consisted of Drake, Nicki Minaj, Queen Latifah, Peter Dinklage, Aziz Ansari, Jennifer Lopez, Heather Morris, Keke Palmer, Josh Peck, and so much more; but my personal favorite was Wanda Sykes’s character was absolutely hilarious, and was definitely one of the best characters to watch. I was surprised to find out that Drake’s character, Ethan *SPOILER ALERT was a douche bag that only cared about flipping his mammoth hair. And even that was so much fun to watch. Even when the end credits were rolling I was having fun listening to the musical number, “We Are Family.” Well, half of the fun was coming from the upbeat song, the other came from watching a young girl around the age of five or six dancing in the front row of the theater. Nicki Minaj’s character, Steffie, was an instigator friend of Ethan’s that had the very fun line of, “If you’re gonna stress about something, stress about your hair.” I would recommend it to you all. There was never a point in the movie where I felt bored, or wanted the time to pass by faster. I loved it. Fun movie, and great cast.

Gossip. Tabloids. Rumors. With all of the backlash and hate celebrities constantly receive it’s difficult to even imagine that they’re is anything positive being done in their lives. And with the constant talk of what they are doing wrong we started to wonder…where is the good news? This is where we come in- the girls with the good news. We created this blog in order to highlight and praise all of the amazing things that celebrities, and other people, are doing in their lives. Even if they’re little things. Rather than bash things and people for what we hate, we will only blog about that we love and admire about them. There are good people in this world, but it is hard to recognize the good when we are all so focused on the dark and ugly things about each other. What if we all started to point out the good things in each other, instead of the bad? Then what would things be like?

“OMG! Look at that girl, she is SUCH- a good person!”

On thegoodnewsgirls we admire genuine, and honest people. These are the people who we look for when we do our features and reviews on celebrities, and fellow bloggers that we feel deserve a good news pat on the back. We know that there is good in everybody, and we want to showcase that by spreading the good news.

The good news is there is no bad news here.

Love,

Marley and Ella
